The $1,000 Hangover

This year’s hangover contest is nothing to sleep through. This year’s winner will collect $500 for themselves and $500 for their rescue of choice. We’re not math magicians over here, but our calculation comes out to roughly $1,000 for the winning hangover.

For those who are unfamiliar with the doggy hangover phenomenon, it’s how we describe the residual effect of a full day of play at The Watering Bowl.

Your dog gets to drift off into a whimsical dream state full of wonderful recent memories. And you get to enjoy a little quality couch time with a much more docile version of your best bud. So you pretty much get two days of daycare for the price of one.

Plus, a good hangover makes for a great photo opportunity.

That’s why we’ve been hosting a contest to find the most hilarious hangover delivered by TWB. And we love using this as an opportunity to support and draw attention to four very deserving local animal rescue organizations.

Simply post your entry over on Facebook, tag it #TWBHC and dedicate your submission with an accompanying hashtag — #SRSTL, #APA, #GPG or #NPR — and @ mention Stray Rescue of St. LouisAnimal Protective Agency, Gateway Pet Guardians, or Needy Paws Rescue with your entry. If your dog wins, so does your favorite rescue. $500 apiece to be exact. Oh, and don’t forget to include your dog’s name so we can give proper credit.

Feel free to provide a funny caption. Those seem to help get more votes.

And remember, 1 like = 1 vote (liking a “share” won’t figure in the voting, so make sure you like the actual photo to make your vote count).

We’re kicking it all off on Sunday Funday, April 8th.

Submissions will be accepted from Sunday 4/8 to Tuesday 4/10 at 5 p.m. CDT.

Then, we will organize the voting folder on Wednesday 4/11.

Voting will take place beginning Thursday, April 12th,  @ 7:00 a.m. CDT, concluding Friday the 13th @ 7:00 p.m.

Then you get to wait while we tally the final votes over the weekend. The suspense will undoubtedly build.

Then, we will announce the winner and the winning rescue organization on Monday, April 16th.

Get some inspiration by checking out some of our past winners here. This may be the one hangover you look forward to each year.
