Wanna Race?
For the third year in a row, we are proud to present the Macklind Dog Mile. The event is Saturday, June 30th, and it starts at Macklind (go figure) and Sublette.
It’s all down hill from there, as they say.
Well, pretty much. The course drops 73 feet in elevation over one mile, which has earned this race the informal title of “the fastest mile.” So, whether you’re an avid runner or a jogger who keeps putting off actually jogging, it’s very accessible.
And to make it even more so, there are six race events throughout the morning, the third of which is The Dog Mile, starting at 8:45am.
That’s us!
We’re stretching out our hammies, and we invite you to join us in our continual quest to #DoMoreWithYourDog. You might even break the record for your personal best time.
Likely, you’ll enjoy your time even more after crossing the finish line.
Chronologically, The Macklind Mile starts with an emphasis on cardio and ends with plenty of rehydration. We’ll have our water bowls on hand for the four-legged and more adventurous participants. And we’ll be ready to toast whatever place you finish in.
Let’s just say you won’t be left out of the fun if running isn’t your thing.
So, give your dog a pep talk. And ask for one in return. They love giving pep talks. Then, register your team of you and your pup. Oh, and don’t forget to use the promo code TOPDOG to get $5 off your entry fee.
You’ll be amazed how a little warm-weather mushing can make running more fun than any hi-tech treadmill you’ve ever tried.
Lastly, in case you were wondering, we are in negotiations to name the race next year. So far, our suggestions have gotten a very tepid response from the organizers.
Alternate names we’ve offered for the Macklind Dog Mile include:
The Six-Legged Race
The Watering Bowl Invitational
You vs. Usain Bolt’s Dachshund
Speed Poop Scooping (Seriously, you have to stop to scoop poop, so the other racers don’t wipe out.)
The Tail Chaser 5280
The Mutt Cup
Let us know what you think. Or at least that you’re in.
See you on Saturday, the 30th.
