There’s a lot going on at The Watering Bowl. Check back here often to stay up on the latest. And be sure to check our facebook page to see how much fun we had at past events.
Don’t bite the bumper, but do keep your eyes peeled for our one-van fleet in action. Not only is it a beauty to behold, but you can also benefit from sharing your sighting with the rest of our cage-free canine community.
As a thank you to all those who participated in our first-ever TWB Hangover Contest, we wanted to give you an overview of how it all went down.
So, scroll on through to see the amazing stuff that happened because of friends like you.
Let’s see. Where do I start? First of all, my summer was too short.
I got dropped off at The Watering Bowl Doggy Daycare and Boarding, and all of a sudden, I got picked up again.
But in the meantime, I had a pretty darn good time.
When I first showed up, all bright-eyed and waggy-tailed, I came for a big tease. They called it my Sniff Around. But all it seemed like to me was a chance to see what a great time everyone else was having and turn around to head home.
But I guess it gave me a sense for what to expect the next time I rolled up there.
As soon as we got off the highway on Lindbergh, I knew we were getting close. I could see the sign on the building, and I couldn’t contain myself.
I could see exactly where we were headed.
And while my parents mumbled something about heading to the Bahamas, all I could think about was the next week that I’d be spending at my own personal resort while they were suffering somewhere over by the equator.
Day 1: No more Sniffing Around. Just time to play and meet new friends.
Day 2: I was almost too tired to write in my journal, but somehow, when I woke up from my long night’s sleep, there were MORE new friends to play with.
Day 3: They broke out the pools! I spent all day splashing and shaking water off myself.
Day 4: Big dogs, small dogs, toys, running, chewing, sleeping.
Day 5: I was playing with one of the small dogs. Then, he disappeared. I asked around. I guess they have their own little hideaway when they want to get a break from the bigger kids. He came back out, though. And I filled him in on everything he missed.
Day 6: I knew there was only one day left, so I made sure to introduce myself to everyone one more time. And there were more new dogs, so I’m glad I made the effort. I was starting to feel like I’d found a second home.
Day 7: My parents were coming to pick me up. It was bittersweet. I knew I’d be leaving my new favorite place, but I’d be going home to spend time and swap stories with my favorite people. I got all cleaned up in the Paw Spaw and prepared to head home from my all-expense-paid vacation.
But I knew I’d be back. In fact, I came back the next week to check on the place. It was just as amazing as I’d remembered.
You know, I used to think it was weird when people would go to the same resort on vacation more than once. But now I understand.
If I had one regret, it would be that I feel bad for forgetting to stop by the gift shop at The Watering Bowl Doggy Daycare and Boarding and get something for my poor parents. After all, they were forced to stay in some unfamiliar place with a bunch of strangers while I was off enjoying myself on the vacation of a lifetime.
They seemed to enjoy all the pictures I had posted on facebook, though, when they got back.
How was your summer?
Forget Tootie from The Facts of Life or the laser disc, we want to know what ever happened to happy hour. And a lot of dog owners are asking the same question.
In fact, we’ve been schooled in it. Last month, we enrolled our entire staff into a class put on by the American Red Cross. They taught us dog first aid. The half-day course covered things like treating minor wounds, reading a dog’s pulse, identifying emergency situations and, yes, even administering CPR.
While we don’t play favorites with the seasons, it seems like everyone loves to play during the summer at The Watering Bowl doggy daycare. And our dog boarding becomes as popular as Disney in the summertime. (Minus the long lines.)
**WINNERS ANNOUNCED 7/1/2013**
First of all, THANK YOU to all of our participants, voters and employees who made the first-ever TWB Hangover Contest a whole lot of fun!
We collected over 7,000 votes with twelve hungover dogs receiving 100+ votes in the first round.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we had two dogs tie for first in South County! Unbelievable.
As part of our ongoing investment in the doggy daycare experience at The Watering Bowl, we’ve visited the future (at least according to the 1980’s) and brought back a nice chunk of yard to our two locations.
That’s right. We have Astroturf. In fact, we have over 5,500 square feet of the stuff between our two locations.
Just in time for whatever gift-giving occasion is right around the corner, The Watering Bowl is now offering gift certificates. (Took us long enough, right?)
CONGRATULATIONS TO FARLEY AND BENTLEY ON WINNING A FREE NIGHT’S STAY AT TWB WHILE THEIR PARENTS, KRISTI SCHWARTZ, ANDY SPITZ AND MONICA CERNICH, GO TO SEE THE CARDS AND CUBS ON JUNE 19TH!
At The Watering Bowl, we always encourage quality time with your pup. But every once in a while, it’s nice to spend a night out on the town without having to hurry home.
