An Expanded Curriculum
In 2013, we established the finest four-legged institute of higher learning known as Butt Sniffers Academy. Our first obedience graduating class has since gone on to achieve great things, including obeying their owners and meeting more new friends at The Watering Bowl Doggy Daycare.
In a word, we are: proud.
But we are not resting on the laurels of our illustrious alumni. On the contrary, we are announcing a broader curriculum.
In 2014, the more well-rounded Butt Sniffers Academy will include an extended obedience class, in-home training and an option to train during daycare.
Below you will find an outline of the course options at BSA including start dates and prices.
Butt Sniffers Academy
Sit, Stay, Sniff, Play
Obedience Institute
- – 6 weekly sessions
- – Tuesday nights
- – 1-hour each
- – Classes begin January 21st
- – $149 tuition
- – Now enrolling at South County
Course description: Repetition is what it’s all about. So is repetition. That’s why Obedience Institute offers two more sessions that continue to hammer home the teachings of Obedience 101. Those two extra weeks will help develop stronger habits and more consistency for both dog and owner.
Pre-requisites: Spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations, including DHLPP, Rabies, Bordatella and a negative fecal test. If your pup has stayed with us, we should have the records on file.
Stay & Train
- – Training during doggy daycare
- – $20 in addition to daycare rate
- – Now enrolling at South County and Brentwood
- – Schedule individual sessions at least 1-week in advance
- – Must be approved for daycare to participate
Course description: Our on-staff trainer will separate your dog from the rest of the pack during his or her stay. She will work with your dog on any specific issues you identify when scheduling your session, such as troublesome behavior like pulling on the leash and jumping up. Basic obedience cues are taught and reinforced during your dog’s daycare or boarding stay, and then homework is provided for your help at home. Stay and Train is a great option for you, when you don’t have the availability for scheduled classes.
BSA Homeschooling
- – In-house training
- – Individually scheduled sessions
- – $75 orientation, plus negotiated rates based on individual needs
- – Call to schedule initial orientation
Course description: If you think your dog would benefit from one-on-one training in your home, contact BSA Homeschooling. The academy comes to you and your pet to work with individual behavioral needs that may be specific to your location, such as barking, charging the door, jumping on guests or table surfing. You are able to work one-on-one with the trainer to target the issues and correct them with basic obedience cues. Homeschooling is easily tailored to focus on your dog’s needs and not general commands that they may have already mastered.
Pre-requisites: Spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations, including DHLPP, Rabies, Bordatella and a negative fecal test. If your pup has stayed with us, we should have the records on file.
In addition to the new courses offered through Butt Sniffers Academy, we will also have BSA t-shirts available at both of our locations, so you can show your school spirit. To enroll, please email with the name of the course you are interested in, or call the location that corresponds to your course.
