Doggy Dones are many things.
But first and foremost, they are a delicious, one-of-a-kind-even-though-they-come-in-packs-of-two treat.
And they’re exclusively available at both TWB locations starting this week.
That’s right, we are premiering the first-ever Strange Donuts Doggy Dones at our locations. And we’re raising money for a worthy cause, Athletes for Animals, while we’re at it. So be on the lookout for a Waggin’ Wagon load of the treats making a delivery during our morning rush for lucky daycare attendees, starting Wednesday.
Doggy Dones are made with a special blend of peanut butter and hockey-player sweat. In fact, David Backes has been heavily involved in the entire concept that started out, innocently enough, with a Twitter conversation. (Search #DoggyDones for the whole thing.)
TWB needed some fresh treats. Strange Donuts had a surplus of peanut butter. David Backes was looking to raise some money. And voila! Doggy Dones were born.
And 42 cents of every sale goes to help Athletes For Animals rescue and protect the welfare of homeless pets nationwide.
And, yes, there is some significance to the number 42. For those who don’t bleed blue, 42 is the number captain of the St. Louis Blues, David Backes, wears on his jersey. And thanks to his commitment to the well-being of companion pets, we are proud to partner with him and his organization.
So, there it is—the story of Doggy Dones. If you can’t get them at TWB this week, they’ll be back next week, starting again on Wednesday. They’ll also be available at both Strange Donuts locations next week, starting Wednesday.
And they’ll be sold until we run out. Then, we’ll fire up the Doggy Dones 3000 to make some more for the following week.
You can ask any of our preliminary taste testers; they are delicious.
